A purchasing decision, with its evidence attached.

Illustrative example — not a client engagement. Every supplier, quote and document in this enclosure scenario is fictional.

Decision question

Should the buyer approve tooling for an access-controller enclosure? Baseline: one enclosure, drawing Rev B, initial quantity 1,000. Material and finish requirements need confirmation from the engineering owner before the next gate.

QUALIFY — hold tooling approval. Close the identity, revision and sample-acceptance gaps before a commitment.

Comparable economics

At 1,000 units, A’s quoted subtotal is $9,400 versus B’s $8,900. At 5,000 units, A is $42,200 versus B’s $44,500. The price ordering changes with quantity. Neither comparison resolves the revision mismatch or includes freight, duties, testing or unquoted costs.

The spreadsheet lets you change quantity and quoted costs. It does not select an approved supplier.

Next-gate plan

  1. Buyer: obtain manufacturing-entity evidence before requesting a revised commercial offer.
  2. Engineer: resolve Rev A / Rev B and confirm material, finish and acceptance criteria before sample commitment.
  3. Buyer: obtain comparable delivery and cost assumptions before price approval.
  4. Approvers: review the updated record. Set target dates together before starting these actions.

Decision note

KEEP both offers as records for comparison. QUALIFY the missing evidence. STOP the proposed tooling commitment until the assigned reviewers close the gaps. These labels apply to this decision and are not supplier ratings or a reliability guarantee.
